Year 7 pupils at Rydal Penrhos got the chance to sample a new sport thanks to a special session.
The group travelled to North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno on Wednesday, September 13, where they took part in session entitled “New to Golf”.
During the session the young hopefuls were given demonstrations on the basics of the game, in addition to vital areas of the game including club grip, putting, stance and swing.
Golf Academy members Niall Richardson, Osca Clark, Charley Simpson and Henry Battersby were also on hand to pass on their knowledge to their novice schoolmates, which included male and female pupils.
Rydal Penrhos’ golf programme has gone from strength-to-strength in recent months, with academy members producing a plethora of regional and national competition successes.
It has also produced its first Welsh international in the form of Year 10 pupil Reuben Bather, who was part of the U15 squad that took on England last month.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Our Golf Academy is thriving at the present moment and hopefully this session will inspire some of our Year 7 pupils to get involved in the sport.
“North Wales Golf Club is one of the most picturesque courses anywhere in the region and our partnership with them continues to flourish thanks to the exceptional work being done by the club and our Golf co-ordinator Ian Richardson.”
