Year 7 and 8 perform well on annual Yorkshire sports tour

Two year groups at Rydal Penrhos performed well during their annual Sports Tour last weekend.

The school’s Year 7 and 8 groups descended on Yorkshire for a busy weekend of action, where they took part in Netball and Hockey contests against other schools from the region.

Among the highlights of the fixtures was a 6-1 triumph for the Boys’ U12 side against Silcoates School, which saw Oliver Davies help himself to a brace in a superb all-around performance, and the same player continued his fine goalscoring form by hitting four in their 4-1 success over Ackworth School.

Not to be outdone, the U13 side also recorded a 6-1 victory on the blue surface at Wakefield Hockey Club, while the Netball sides also produced plenty of positives in the various encounters including a dramatic 7-6 triumph over Ackworth by the U12s.

During their trip home, the group stopped off at Chester Hockey Club where they concluded their series of fixtures.

There was time to enjoy some fun on the tour, with pupils taking part in ten-pin bowling and a trip to a water park.

Deputy Head Tim Cashell, who led the tour, said: “A really excellent tour for which all thirty-three pupils are to be commended as they were a credit to the school and themselves.”
