A Preparatory School year group have taken inspiration from their upcoming play for a special Art project.
The Year 6 contingent at Rydal Penrhos will take the stage over a two-night period next month for their annual play, where they will be taking on the modern musical classic Mary Poppins.
As a part of their preparation for the showcase, each member of the group took part in a fun-filled activity with Art teacher Suzy Morris, which saw them produce some colourful kites that will be used during the production.
After the kites were complete, they were given the chance to successfully fly them before they become part of the rehearsal process ahead of the shows.
Music teacher Richard Davies has been working incredibly hard with the cast ahead of the night production, which will take place on June 19 and 20.
This follows on from last year’s Year 6 play Aladdin, with the 2017 production of The Lion King another notable highlight.
Mary Poppins is a 1964 American musical fantasy film directed by Robert Stevenson and produced by Walt Disney, with songs written and composed by the Sherman Brothers.
The screenplay is by Bill Walsh and Don DaGradi, based on P. L. Travers's book series Mary Poppins.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “This special project further heightened the excitement of our Year 6 pupils ahead of their Mary Poppins production, and it promises to be yet another fantastic spectacle relating to the Performing Arts here at Rydal Penrhos.”
