Year 5 Musical Showcase hailed a success

A group of talented Preparatory School musicians demonstrated their incredible talent at a special event.

Rydal Penrhos held its annual Year 5 Musical Showcase on Wednesday, June 6, and each pupil worked incredibly hard under the expert guidance of teacher Richard Davies in the lead-up to the concert.

The event began with a group effort from 5CC, who performed a superb ensemble, before Fflur Pierce took centre stage with a solo performance of ‘Breeze and Tempest’.

Rana Abou-Samra’s ‘Chim Chim Cheree’ and William McLaughlin’s ‘Bells are Ringing’ were another notable highlights, while the pop medley from Pippa Roberts, Keira Luke, Gracie Tavernor, Sophie Edwards, Grace Watkins, Chloe Tillman-Lennon, Daisy Yates, Maggie McDuff, Freya Berkley and Fflur drew widespread plaudits.

Talented drummer Tristain Griffiths showed-off his potential with a solo effort to the smash hit ‘Hall of Fame’, and Violet Roberts also produced a memorable contribution to proceedings with her rendition of ‘Waving Through a Window’.

Keira was next up with an outstanding ‘Gospel Flair’ piece, while the boy contingent of Ellis Lister Brookes, Freddie MacLaverty, William, Louis Walkden-Williams, Zack Coverley, Freddie Barrington Chance, Gabriel Donohue performed ‘Feel it Still’, accompanied by Theo Roberts, Cieran Milligan and Tristan.

Closing out the individual performances was Zack with ‘Black Eyes’ and the entire Year 5 group finished on a high with a special rendition of ‘Revolting Children’.

This is the latest in a series of concerts put on at the school’s Prep and Senior sites throughout the academic, which have been implemented to improve the confidence of playing in front of an audience, in addition to demonstrating the progress being made by each performer.
