Year 3 build 'Hedgehog Havens' during Forest School session

A Preparatory School year group took full advantage of another exciting opportunity at an ongoing initiative.

The Year 3 contingent held a special Forest School morning prior to the half term break under the guidance and support of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated staff led by teacher Jude Pyves.

There were a host of challenging activities to participate in during the session, which centred around wildlife and how they adapt and survive the elements throughout challenging times of the year due to the elements.

The enthusiastic pupils were split into groups and tasked with designing and building a Hedgehog haven using items situated within the Coed y Plant facility.

This resulted in some fantastic creations from the group, who also demonstrated exceptional teamwork before showing off their respective designs to the entire class during their presentations.

Rydal Penrhos’ Forest School is another unique opportunity afforded to each Prep School pupil and is situated on site, constructed with a view to enhancing learning and experiences outside of the classroom.

Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “Our Forest School sessions are always a source of great inspiration that encourage creativity and have become an essential tool in the overall learning experience of each young pupil here at Rydal Penrhos.

“This proved to be no different with our recent Year 3 session, which saw the group demonstrate a tremendous initiative and produce some fabulous work that they can all be enormously proud of.”
