A group of young Preparatory School pupils demonstrated their track and field prowess at a special event.
The Year 2 contingent from Rydal Penrhos travelled to Pownall Hall for the IAPS Run for Fun and Athletics Day, which took place on Thursday, May 2.
The initiative has been implemented with a view to increasing participation in a wide range of different activities, and each pupil involved gave a very good account of themselves and represented the Prep School well.
First up for the group were the eagerly anticipated bean bag races, while Jensen Hodgson-Roberts put in a brilliant performance in the bean bag throwing event to come away with the longest throw.
Fellow pupil Xavier Poynton took a spectacular fall in the hurdles but recovered superbly to cross the line, and the medicine ball section of the day also saw a number of eye-catching efforts.
The event concluded with a series of 70-metre sprint races, which resulted in the likes of Tomas Milligan, Ava Culver, Eleanor Turner and Lexi Williams all recording excellent times.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, said: “The whole day was a very worthwhile experience for everyone that made the trip, and their enthusiasm was absolutely fantastic to see.
“Exercise in children is something that is highly important in terms of their overall development, and this is something we actively encourage and have a great deal of success with here at Rydal Penrhos.”
