Preparatory School parents got the opportunity to contribute to their child’s learning thanks to an ongoing initiative.
The first of Rydal Penrhos’ family reading sessions of the new half term took place on Thursday, November 8, which continues the enormous success of the sessions since their inception last year.
The scheme has been implemented with the aim of encouraging reading outside of classroom hours, in addition to improving speech in front of an audience.
This is just one of many new learning initiatives throughout Rydal Penrhos’ Prep and Senior schools, and Year 2 sat down with their parents to read sections of some of their favourite novels before beginning their lessons.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “Our Family Reading sessions have generated an incredible response from each parent that has attended, and I would like to thank them on behalf of everyone at Rydal Penrhos for their continued enthusiasm relating to their child’s learning.
“Improving reading outside of classroom hours is an essential part of each pupil’s development, and this has been proven to increase vocabulary and confidence in addition to broadening imagination, which are things we actively encourage.
“Thanks so much to our staff for continuing to come up with ways of not only getting parents involved, but always searching the get the very most out of the school day for the children under their care.”
