Two Preparatory School pupils have completed the first stage of a school-led Spelling Challenge.
Rydal Penrhos staff devised a challenge for pupils last year, which has three different levels each with 110 words.
The pupils have been encouraged to work towards their incremental targets of Gold, Silver and Bronze within each stage, and a host of certificates have already been issued as a result of their hard work since the initiative began.
This week saw a pair of hard-working pupils managed to claim their Stage One Gold Award, with Will Cheesley and Shane Ayemi achieving the honour.
Both received their certificates at Rydal Penrhos’ weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, January 12.
Deputy Head Alison Hind, who started the scheme, said: “This challenge is something that has really inspired our pupils, and it is fantastic to see so many thriving as they strive for gold.
“It is something that has become a real sense of pride for every pupil, who find reaching each target us a real sense of achievement and well done to Will and Shane for completing Stage One of the initiative.
“Hopefully they will now begin working equally as hard in the hope of gaining further accolades in the future, and we wish them well with their efforts.”
