Wesley retain Yeung Bowl House Cup

Rydal Penrhos’ four houses found out their fate as the overall competition victor was announced.

The school announced the winner of the coveted Yeung Bowl House Cup during its annual Speech Day event on Saturday, May 26, which saw Wesley House retain their crown after an outstanding academic year across all year groups.

The margin of victory was just 57 points from Osborn, with Payne and Morgan rounding off the placings in third and fourth respectively.

House captains Henry Maitland-Davies and Elinor Davies received the cup from special guest speaker and former pupil Flt Lt Nathan Jones to a generous round of applause from the audience.

Each pupil at Rydal Penrhos contributes to the overall house point totals throughout the course of the year, which can be won for academic achievement or at the various co-curricular inter-house competitions in areas such as music, drama and boarding.

Wesley’s triumph was aided considerably by their performance at the recent Sports Day event, which saw them come away with the overall crown thanks to some superb individual and team contributions.

Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “Our annual House competition was one of the closest we have had in recent memory, and congratulations go to Wesley on securing the cup for a second consecutive year.

“The house pride demonstrated by each pupil is heart-warming to see, and it further reflects the community spirit operating throughout Rydal Penrhos during the academic year.”
