Three Sixth Form pupils have been acknowledged for their outstanding efforts with a special award.
Samiya Garrod, Kieron McNamara and Geoffrey Fu were presented with the Contribution to Boarding Life at the School Prize at Rydal Penrhos’ annual Speech Day event on Saturday, May 26.
The trio have been a huge factor in the ongoing success of the school’s thriving boarding programme, while also lending support and guidance to younger members of the community during their experience living together throughout the academic year.
This has included a significant contribution to the various Inter-House boarding competitions in various fields to further enhance their influence at their respective boarding houses.
All three picked up their prizes from Old Rydalian and special guest speaker Flt Lt Nathan Jones as they prepare to leave Rydal Penrhos on completion of their examinations and subsequent results this summer.
Kieron and Samiya have also excelled sporting areas such as rugby and triathlon during their time at the school, while Geoffrey is planning to study Mechanical Engineering at either the University of Manchester of John Moores University in Liverpool.
Head of Sixth Form Peter Lavery, said: “Samiya, Kieron and Geoffrey have all been big personalities during their time at the school, and they have been a great source of inspiration to others using our boarding houses.
“They are full of energy and very talented in equal measure, and their presence is going to be sorely missed when they move on to the next step in their progression later on this year.”
