Trio help Aberconwy Pony Club to strong competition showing

Three Preparatory School pupils helped their regional pony club to a strong performance at a high-profile competition.

Rupert Barrington Chance, Charlotte Payne and Ella Payne, all represented Aberconwy Pony Club at the first of two triathlons as part of the hugely competitive Area 5 Tetrathalon competitions.

Leading the way was Year 5 pupil Rupert, who turned in an accomplished performance to achieve a first ever victory in his age category at an event of this kind.

The competition involved a seven-metre, two-handed static shoot, a 1,000m run and a two-minute swim.

There was further cause for celebration from a Rydal Penrhos perspective in the form of Ella, who continued her excellent run of recent results with a third-place finish in her category, with sister Charlotte also performing well to secure sixth spot in her respective group.

This solid contribution enabled Aberconwy to finish a very creditable fifth overall out of 19 teams, which featured branches from across North Wales, Cheshire and the North West.

Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “This was a marvellous effort from our pupils and one that will give them an enormous amount of confidence as they look to progress their riding skills at the fantastic Aberconwy Pony Club.

“Rupert’s first win represents a significant milestone for him and one that everyone here at Rydal Penrhos is extremely proud of, and it was also fantastic to hear of Ella and Charlotte’s development continuing within a relaxed and competitive environment.”
