A trio of Golf Academy stars at Rydal Penrhos completed a gruelling event in aid of a national cancer charity.
Adrian Lewis, Charley Simpson and Reuben Bather took on a 72-hole Dawn-till-Dusk Golf Challenge on Wednesday, June 28 at North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno, with all proceeds from their fundraising initiative going towards Macmillan Cancer Support.
The three hopefuls braved the difficult weather conditions to plough through the challenge, with club members
This is not the first time that Year 7 pupil Charley has taken on this challenge, with the 11-handicapper completing a similar event in aid of BBC Children in Need at a host of different clubs across North Wales in November last year.
All three are prominent members of Rydal Penrhos’ Golf Academy, with Reuben – who plays with a three handicap – finishing third overall at the recent ISGA Junior League National Championships.
They are hoping to raise around £500 from their efforts, and have been busy collecting sponsorship from pupils and staff ahead of the event.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “The weather was not kind to the boys but they powered through and managed to complete the challenge, which was an absolutely fantastic achievement under the circumstances.
“This was a fantastic gesture from them all to raise what will hopefully be a significant amount of money for a very worthy cause, and everyone at Rydal Penrhos is thrilled with their selfless actions.”
