Tennis round-up: U14 and U12 perform well against Birkenhead School

Head of Girls’ Games Nicky Head brings you the latest from our tennis programme in her weekly round-up, which saw a number of impressive performances against Birkenhead School.

The U12 girls played their first tennis match of the season, against Birkenhead. Lily Davies and Eve Durrans had a tough first game but fought to the end with some excellent rallies and volleys from both girls.

This continued into the second game giving them a win by five games to two.

Ariana Milligan and Ella James worked well as a team with brilliant communication, resulting in a winning result by six games to two in their first game.

They continued this hard work into the next game displaying great volleys and long shots. Both pairs played fantastic games against some very strong opponents.

The U14 girls’ also turned out against Birkenhead. Rebecca and Beau Holden worked hard as a team to return some very strong serves from their opponents, they had good positioning and communication throughout all their games.

Tasnim Mortuza and Ellen Jones had some brilliant rallies, with some outstanding long shots down the centre winning some cracking points.

Carmen Hurtado De Amezaga De La Lastra and Phoebe Walker worked skilfully as a pair allowing brilliant positioning and great smashes. All pairs worked very hard winning 12 games in total.
