A pair of talented vocalists at Rydal Penrhos added to their list of recent accolades at a high profile event.
Tegid Goodman-Jones and Arthur Hind, Year 9 and 8 pupils at the school, produced a number of exceptional performances to come away with a number of awards from the Hazel Grove Musical Festival, which was held in Stockport on Saturday, February 25.
National Eisteddfod winner Tegid, aged 14, came away with the musical class title after his stunning rendition of Close Every Door to Me, which received an impressive 91 marks.
Not to be outdone, 13-year-old Arthur performed brilliantly to claim the solo class, with his schoolmate finishing second with his version of Panis Angelicus.
There was further success for the pair when they achieved a 1-2 finish in the British Composer class, with Tegid narrowly pipping Arthur to the crown after his Linden Lea performance scored 90 points.
The scholar also came away with second place from the Unaccompanied Folk Song class, with was an 18 and under category.
Director of Music Pete Williams, said: “This was a marvellous effort from both Arthur and Tegid, which continues their amazing run of success in recent events.
“They are two of the most gifted musicians we have here at the school, and they work incredibly hard on improving their vocals, something that is bringing with it incredible results.
“We are all very proud of what they both continue to achieve and look forward to hearing of further triumphs in the future.”
