A group of Preparatory School artists produced a fantastic effort to sweep the board at a district competition.
The three Rydal Penrhos pupils brought home a 1-2-3 from the Urdd Art competition, which was open to Year 6 and below.
Based around the theme of ‘The Future’, the entrants were tasked with coming up with a weird and wonderful painting or drawing in the hope of achieving the prize.
After judges had assessed all of the submissions, Year 6 pupil Ella James was crowned the winner for her portrayal of a piece of machinery from a popular TV programme.
There was further success in the form of classmate Lily Davies, who drew an Alien-inspired piece that gained her second spot, while Year 5 pupil Will Rutherford rounded off the top three in what was another notable achievement against older competition.
The trio received a certificate from the Urdd in recognition of their accomplishment, along with a generous round of applause at Rydal Penrhos’ weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, June 30.
Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “This was a marvellous performance and to claim all three top spots is exceptionally pleasing.
“All of our pupils that entered the competition worked incredibly hard on their respective designs, and it was great to see all their perseverance rewarded with a hat-trick of successes, which add to the already long list of Art accomplished achieved by our magnificent pupils here at Rydal Penrhos.”
