A young table tennis star at Rydal Penrhos has been enhancing his reputation on the domestic circuit with further success with his local side.
Abhishek Bathula, a Lower Sixth Form pupil at the school, turns out for Trinity A in the Llandudno and District Table Tennis Division One Table Tennis League, and the Welsh international has enjoyed another hugely impressive season with the squad to continue his excellent recent form.
The 16-year-old demonstrated his incredible talent in Trinity’s recent 6-4 victory over Rhyl A, where Abhishek triumphed in each of his three singles matches in commanding fashion and teamed up with Stuart Dearden to secure the doubles.
This was swiftly followed by even more success for the side against Police A, with the Academic scholar helping Trinity to a 7-3 win against quality opposition.
Abhishek has benefitted enormously from the school bringing in a specialised Table Tennis coach to work with the hopeful on a weekly basis, and working with Rydal Penrhos’ strength and conditioning team has also played a significant role in his success.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Abhishek’s talent is there for all to see and has been there on a consistent basis, but perhaps what is even more impressive is his application, willingness to learn and the hours he is putting in to get better on a daily basis.
“His efforts with Trinity have also been a hugely positive influence on him in terms of performing in a competitive environment, and this all points to Abhishek having a very bright future within the game.”
