A Middle School pupil has been rewarded for her exceptional work behind the scenes within Rydal Penrhos’ thriving drama provision.
Sydney Johnson, a Year 11 pupil at the school, received the Director of Drama Award for Technical Theatre at Rydal Penrhos’ second annual Creative and Performing Arts dinner at the Sixth Form Ferguson Centre prior to the Easter break.
The talented academic has been working considerably hard on her technical nous as part of her efforts with the GCSE Drama group, which culminated in an impressive showing during their recent examination that involved an eye-catching document involving her preparation ahead of the showcase.
She received her award from Head of Drama Rachel Jones and Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, and this is the latest in a long line of notable achievements for Sydney, who has developed across all areas of Rydal Penrhos superbly since joining as a Year 7 pupil in 2014.
Mrs Harding, said: “Sydney has been a valued member of our truly amazing Drama department throughout her school life, and she was thoroughly deserving of the Director of Drama Award for Technical Theatre.
“She has developed a real talent for the technical aspect of a performance, and Sydney’s input has been invaluable throughout the GCSE Drama provision during the current academic year.”
