A talented cricketer at Rydal Penrhos got more than he bargained for when he turned in a match-winning performance last weekend.
Suhas Shekar, a Year 8 pupil at the school, was part of the U13 side that produced a stunning effort to claim a nine-wicket success over Oswestry School at New Field on Saturday.
The gifted bowler was in magnificent form throughout what was a stunning spell, which saw him claim four wickets in as many balls to leave the visitors all out on 92.
This earned the 13-year-old the Man of the Match award, which was presented to him by none other than legendary England all-rounder Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff.
The iconic figure visited Rydal Penrhos in support of his son, who was part of the Lancashire U11 side that were taking on Wales at the school ground later that day.
Josh Lynch, who had earlier taken three catches, aided his side’s cause with a knock of 34, before Prestatyn Cricket Club youngster Anthony Bowe played a number of classy strokes to end the day unbeaten on 36.
