A budding Preparatory School martial artist has successfully completed his first ever grading after taking up a new discipline.

Steffan Atenstaedt, a Year 2 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, recently took his first ever assessment in Jujitsu on Thursday, January 18.

The six-year-old produced a fabulous effort to gain his white belt after impressing adjudicators, and he will now begin training in the hope of gaining further success in the future.

The pupil received a certificate stating: “Steffan has performed in a distinctive manner the proficiency required in full accordance with the standards established by Shogun Jujitsu International.”

He also received a medal as a result of his achievement, which was presented in front of the whole Prep School at Rydal Penrhos’ weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, January 26.

Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “This is a wonderful achievement for Steffan and one that he can be enormously proud of.

“We have a large number of pupils who take part in various martial arts disciplines, and their training really does improve their confidence which will stand them in good stead both in-and-out of school in later life.

“Hopefully this impressive assessment will be a huge boost for Steffan as he begins Jujitsu journey.”
