A host of Preparatory School sports teams achieved success in a series of fixtures this week.
The gifted pupils have travelled the country to compete at Fives, Rugby 7s and Netball tournaments, and all came away with enormous credit from their respective fixtures.
The U11 rugby 7s side produced a number of exceptional performances at tournament held at Terra Nova, and they narrowly missed out on the overall crown to finish runners-up.
Also in action at the school were the U11 netball side, who recovered from a slow start to record victories against Wilmslow Prep and St Mary’s Hall thanks to some superb shooting from Ruby Merrick and Lily Davies.
There was further success for Rydal Penrhos at the IAPS Tag Rugby and Netball Festival, where the U9 netballers began their tournament with a convincing 9-1 success over The Firs thanks to a man-of-the-match effort from Freya Berklay.
The Dolphins also achieved wins over the two schools by 2-1 and 4-0 respectively, with the foursome of Charlotte Payne, Maggie McDuff, Pippa Roberts and Sophie Edwards producing standout efforts.
Not to be outdone, the Year 3 rugby side began with an 8-7 triumph over Abbey Gate with Nathan Richards, Archie Jeeves and Dominic Chamberlain contributing significantly to the win.
They remained unbeaten after a thrilling 8-8 draw with The Firs.
Rydal Penrhos’ Fives players emerged from a national tournament held at Eton College with credit, and picked up a number of high-profile wins on their way to an impressive outing in what was a worthwhile experience for the group on a big stage.
