Sport Relief fundraising total revealed

More than £600 was raised from a special event held in aid of a nationwide campaign.

Rydal Penrhos’ Charity Committee held a fundraising day on Friday, March 23, with all proceeds going towards Sport Relief.

After the final sum was totalled, it was revealed that £650 was raised and will be added to the £38 million that was raised nationwide for the biennial fundraising initiative.

Each pupil was invited to come to school dressed in sports clothing, whether that be different shirts, a certain profession or in Rydal Penrhos kit.

This saw a wide range of outfits including surfers and karate kids, while football and rugby shirts of their favourite teams were also a prominent feature throughout the school.

A cake sale was held prior to the charity day, and lunchtime saw a large number of pupils take part in special activities such as musical chairs and an obstacle course to raise additional funds.

Head of Sixth Form Pete Lavery, said: “Our Charity Committee does a great job of organising a host of different fundraising initiative during the academic year, which has raised a considerable amount for regional and national causes.

“They also receive an enormous amount of support from the entire Rydal Penrhos community, who contribute in any way they can which shows the great spirit situated at the school which is something we a very proud of.”
