A hard-working pupil has been rewarded for his exceptional efforts throughout the academic year with a special award.
Solomon Gibbs, a Year 11 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, took home the Rankilor Prize for General Progress from the school’s annual Speech Day event, which was held on Saturday, May 26.
The 16-year-old has developed a considerable amount in recent months throughout all areas of the school community, which is a testament to the support and guidance he is receiving from dedicated staff through various departments at the school.
This feat has been made even more impressive given the pressures of a GCSE exam year, with revision and coursework deadlines providing each candidate with additional demands on their already busy academic and co-curricular schedule.
Solomon received the coveted award from Flt Lt Nathan Jones, who is a former pupil and Armed Forces hero that gave an inspiring talk as part of his special guest address.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “Solomon has shown a tremendous attitude and dedication towards his academic studies this year, and is a very deserving recipient of the Rankilor Prize for General Progress.
“His commitment to improvement and excellence has been very pleasing to see, and hopefully his superb efforts will culminate in some good GCSE examination results this summer.”
