Skiing squad sweep the board to claim North Wales Championship

Rydal Penrhos’ Preparatory School skiing squad added to their impressive list of accolades with a regional title.

The talented group descended on Plas y Brenin for the North Wales Ski Championships on Wednesday, September 13, and their exceptional performance stole the show to claim a haul of medals.

After a highly competitive evening of action, the team of Telor Jones, Will Rutherford, Xavier Poynton and Agatha Favill came away with the overall title, with Rydal Penrhos’ second team consisting of Cieran Milligan, Biv Gilmartin, Freddie MacLaverty and Fflur Pierce finishing close behind in second place.

There was further cause for celebration as the third team of Henry Hibbert, Jasmin Beckett-Donald, Ella Northcott and Ethan Akroyd making it a clean sweep for the school with a Bronze finish.

In addition to the team triumphs, there were also a number of individual accolades within the squad, with child prodigy Xavier continuing his outstanding season with Gold in the U8 Boys category.

Promising skier Agatha put in another sterling performance to come away with the U10 girls’ competition, with a standout showing from Biv earning him the U10 boys’ crown.

Recently appointed school ski captain Telor began his leadership role with the U12 boys’ title, and the squad will now turn their attention to the Welsh Schools’ Championships in Llangranog next month, where they will go in search of a second national title in succession.
