A Preparatory School skiing sensation continued his remarkable success with another competition victory.
Xavier Poynton, a Year 1 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, turned in polished all-round performance to claim a regional U8 event, which was held at Plas y Brenin this week.
The six-year-old conjured up a flawless day of slalom racing to emerge with a comfortable triumph, which further highlighted his immense potential in the sport.
He has been competing in the high-profile Ski Rossendale Summer Race League over the past few weeks, which saw him achieve first place in the U8 Male section after a blistering performance throughout.
Xavier recorded the category’s best time of the day at the Lancashire venue, despite competing against older and more experienced opposition throughout.
If that was not enough, he was also recently accepted on to the prestigious Ambition Racing Summer Camp programme, which is being held at the Chill Factore in Manchester, in addition to being part of the Rydal Penrhos side that were crowed Primary School Champions at the national finals earlier this year.
Prep School head Roger McDuff, said: “Xavier continues to show us time-and-time again that the sky is the limit as to what he can achieve in the sport of skiing, and he has been in scintillating form in recent weeks.
“It is clear to see that he possesses a great deal of natural ability as he was born to ski, but the development and progressing that he is showing is down to his hard work and the dedication of his coaches both in-and-out of school.”
