An aspiring Preparatory School skier has recorded a series of impressive achievements this season as he gears up for a tilt at a national championship.
Cameron Pye, a Year 5 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, has enjoyed a standout campaign to date and has progressed his skills considerably as part of the school’s coaching provision, in addition to extra evening sessions in Runcorn and Rossendale.
This outstanding development saw the ten-year-old secure a bronze medal at the recent Welsh Schools’ Championships in the U12 category, and he also attained team gold with the Rossendale Ski Racing Team at the Pendle Winter League races that took place in December.
He is about to embark on a three-day training camp with the Dragons Racing team in Champery this weekend, which will stand him in extremely good stead ahead of his participation in the Welsh Championships U12 Slalom and Giant Slalom events on January 24 and 25.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “Cameron is incredibly passionate about skiing and has worked tremendously hard on improving all areas of his technique in order to maximise his performance.
“This has brought with it some outstanding results and performance of late, and this can give him an enormous amount of encouragement as he looks to further enhance his growing reputation on the national stage later this month.
“Everyone at Rydal Penrhos is thrilled with all of Cameron’s recent achievements and we wish him the very best of luck at the Welsh Championships.”
