Two Preparatory School skiers continued their excellent recent run of form with another high-profile success.
Cameron Pye and Xavier Poynton, Year 5 and 3 pupils at Rydal Penrhos, formed part of the Ski Rossendale Race Club that tested their skills against some of the best young talent in the region at the Pendle Winter Series on Saturday, February 2.
The talented duo were a part of the U10 squad and turned in a wonderful effort alongside two other team members, winning all six of their races to give them a shot at the gold medal.
This involved a race-off showdown against Snow Sports Racing in Runcorn to determine the overall victor, and the Rossendale side held their nerve to emerge with a crucial win to book their place at the top of the podium.
It was a long day for each competitor with more than 130 races over a period of nearly six hours, and this is the latest in a series of impressive accolades for Cameron and Xavier on the slopes in recent months.
Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “This is an outstanding effort from both Cameron and Xavier, which is a further indication of just how much talent they have and how hard they are both working to improve with every session and competition experience.
“Both pupils dedicate a great deal of time towards their skiing, and their tireless commitment together with the selfless dedication of their parents is something that has brought a significant amount of achievements and long may it continue.”
