Sixth Form Sports Scholarship Assessment Day confirmed for May

Prospective Sixth Form pupils at Rydal Penrhos will have the chance to earn a scholarship at a special event.

The school will be hosting a Sixth Form Scholarship Assessment Day on Monday, May 7, where hopefuls will be put through their places in the hopes of obtaining a place.

Rydal Penrhos award scholarships to talented individuals in a number of fields, which include Cricket, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Rugby and Tennis.

Llandudno netballer Nia Humphreys was recently awarded a sports scholarship and will be following in the footsteps of brother Euan, who achieved a phenomenal amount as part of the Rydal Penrhos Rugby Academy which is run in partnership with Principality Premiership title challengers RGC and the Welsh Rugby Union.

Lancashire and Cheshire rugby squad members Kieron McNamara and Joseph Morrow have gone on to achieve a significant amount after completing immersing themselves into boarding school life, while Welsh Rugby Union international Will Lynch is another fine example of what the benefits of a Rydal Penrhos education can bring.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “We have had an incredible amount of success with our Sixth Form scholars’ in recent years, and hopefully the next generation of Rydal Penrhosians can continue this fine tradition.

“We offer a fantastic amount of opportunities here at Rydal Penrhos thanks to the dedication and ongoing commitment of our hard-working staff, who strive to ensure that each pupil’s goals are met and they progress as athletes and well-rounded young people.”
