Talented sailors at Rydal Penrhos tested their skills on a popular area of the North Wales coast as part of a special initiative.
The group, who have enjoyed a standout year on the water, travelled to nearby Abersoch as part of the school’s annual Activity Week, which has been designed to give pupils a number of different experiences before they head off on their summer holidays.
Pupils braved the blustery conditions for a number of activities on the water over a two-day period, which enabled them to learn more about the sport and fine tune their technique in a new environment.
It has been another year of impressive success for Rydal Penrhos’ sailing programme, with a host of pupils selected for various regional and national squads while also gaining notable triumphs in a series of prestigious competitions.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Our sailing programme is something that we are very proud of, and activities like this are a great way for our pupils to hone their skills in what were at times difficult conditions.
“Our staff do a remarkable job and you can see just how much our young sailors are benefitting when you see the results they have achieved.
“Many of them are competing throughout the summer and I wish them the very best of luck with their efforts.”
