A host of Preparatory School sailors took to the water for a special event last weekend.
Rydal Penrhos’ Prep School Regatta was held on Sunday, May 13, which highlighted some of the brightest young prospects show off their impressive skills over a series of races.
One day prior to the showcase, each competitor honed their skills under the guidance of the programme’s dedicated coaching staff at a special training day, led by Dan Rippon.
A hugely competitive first race saw Fflur Pierce cross the line in first place, with the duo of Keira Luke and Isabella Peevor finishing in second.
Freddie MacLaverty and Year 3 pupil Shan Ayeni were in third, and Fflur followed up her opening race victory by securing a double in the second race of the day.
Year 4 pupil Ellie Knight turned in her best performance of the regatta to come in second place, with James Mann rounding off the podium places.
The third and final race was equally as competitive but brought with it the same result, as Fflur demonstrated her class once again to triumph and secure the overall title by a comfortable seven points.
A third-placed finish from Freddie and Shane was enough to give them a second-place finish overall, with Keira and Isabella rounding off the top three.
There were a host of outstanding contributions from young members of the Prep School community, with the likes of Agatha Favill, Will Glanville, Charlotte Payne and Jorgie Lynch all performing well despite being relative novices in relation to the experience of competitive action.
Final results: 1 Fflur Pierce, 2 Freddie MacLaverty/Shane Ayeni, 3 Keira Luke/Isabella Peevor, 4 James Mann, 5 Ellie Knight, 6 Agatha Favill, 7 Will Rutherford, 8 Freddie James, 9 Rupert Barrington-Chance, 10 Louis Walkden-Williams, 11 Harrison McKinnel, 12 Will Glanville, 13 Charlotte Payne, 14 Jorgie Lynch, 15 Chloe Tillman-Lennon/Toby Simmons.
