A talented young sailing picked up a notable honour after performing well at a high-profile event.
Aidan Skinner, a Year 10 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, recently competed at the RS100 Sprint Championship & Rooster National Tour Event, which was held at Rutland Sailing Club and consisted of an all-adult fleet.
Despite his relative inexperience compared to others on the water, the Port Dinorwic Sailing Club member mastered the difficult conditions superbly to end the seven-round competition in eighth place overall.
This secured a significant accolade for Aidan, who received the Endeavour Award for his sterling commitment and performance in the face of stern competition.
The sailing squad member has been working exceptionally hard to develop his craft under Head Instructor Max Todd and other dedicated coaches, which has seen the Middle School pupil secure some impressive achievements in recent months.
Aidan turned in a standout effort at the Honda RYA RIB National Championships, in addition to other highly encouraging performances against some of the best young talent in the country.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Aidan is incredibly passionate about his sailing and he has worked very hard to get where he is today.
“His ongoing commitment and dedication to improving his craft with Mr Todd and the team, and I am surer there is plenty more to come from Aidan if he continues to develop and gain vital competitive experience on a consistent basis.”
