Director of Sport Allen Boyd returns with his weekly Rugby round-up, which saw Rydal Penrhos first XV face a significant test in the Natwest Cup.
On Wednesday the 1st XV played Wilmslow High School in the toughest draw possible in the NatWest Cup.
An established rugby school with more than 2,000 pupils who regularly make the quarter and semi-finals at both U15 and U18 Level.
In the belief we were playing touch rugby we gifted them three tries in the first five minutes before settling into our stride with some good phases of possession.
However, any time we coughed up the ball we conceded and Jack Jones’ third try in as many games was our only return with the final score being 59-5.
Some other positives included Eddie Farrell and Jacob Heaton-Rue’s defensive efforts and the contribution made by Ollie Gibson, who started to show some of his potential and we look forward to seeing how he develops in the upcoming fixtures.
Good luck to the U14s in their rugby tournament at The Grange School tomorrow (Tuesday) and to the U16s who play Hilbre School on Thursday in the Cheshire Cup (4pm).
This Week's fixtures:
Tuesday: Cheshire U14 Festival at The Grange School
Wednesday: First XV vs Oswestry School (H)
Thursday: U16 vs Hilbre School Cheshire Cup
