A group of Preparatory School rugby stars continued their excellent recent form with a standout effort at a regional tournament.
Rydal Penrhos’ U10 side travelled to St Ambrose College to compete at an IAPS Festival, and they turned in a series of sensational performances to come away unbeaten and secure the overall crown.
A strong start saw the group gain a pair of triumphs from their opening games, and they continued to dominate with wins over Altrincham Prep School, Terra Nova School and the hosts to make it five-from-five and seal a 100 per cent record from their fixtures.
There were a host of standout individual performances throughout the tournament, with the talented duo of Freddie MacLaverty and Cieran Milligan leading from the front to guide their side to glory.
Tristan Griffiths, Biv Gilmartin and Charlie Lister-Brooks continued their impressive recent form with telling contributions, and the teamwork displayed from each individual involved was another eye-catching element of their success.
It has been a season to remember for Rydal Penrhos’ aspiring rugby stars, who recently retained the annual Cooper Cup for the fourth consecutive year thanks to a 3-1 victory over Colwyn Bay.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, said: “It was an excellent afternoon of rugby and it was great to see each player involved performing to an extremely high level.
“They have all been working very hard to improve all areas of their game, and you can really see just how much this has been paying off for them with the recent result they have managed to accomplish together as a unit.”
