A budding Preparatory School rugby star is following in the footsteps of his brother by leading his side to success.
Jorgie Lynch, a Year 4 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, recently skippered the U9 team to success in their Cooper Cup clash with Colwyn Bay, which saw the school retain their title for the fourth consecutive year.
The nine-year-old demonstrated his immense promise by turning in a virtuoso display in what was a high-class team effort that resulted in a convincing 11-3 success which contributed to Rydal Penrhos’ 3-1 overall aggregate victory.
The Lynch family is no stranger to triumphing in the competition, with Jorgie’s brother Josh captaining the Prep School side that won the cup in 2015.
Since their achievement, the Year 9 sports scholar has gone on to great things, and is currently a member of both the Sale Sharks Player Development programme and the RGC West U15 set-up.
He also has a host of Welsh weightlifting records to his name in what has been a standout career to date.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, said: “Jorgie is definitely showing the same potential that Josh had in abundance, and hopefully this will bring with it similar success as he progresses through the year groups here at Rydal Penrhos.
“Having these family traditions has become the cornerstone of the school and its success, and hopefully we will see many more stories such as this in the years to come.”
