Rugby: Host of pupils in RGC Academy sides for weekend tests

A host of Rydal Penrhos pupils have been selected for RGC’s academy sides for two pivotal clashes this weekend.

No fewer than seven pupils will be involved for the Gogs’ U18 and U16 teams as they look to pick up notable scalps against a pair of formidable outfits from South Wales.

It promises to be a busy weekend for upper sixth pupil Dan Owen, who is part of the RGC senior squad for their trip to Llandovery, before captaining the U18 side for their clash with Cardiff Blues at Parc Eirias on Sunday.

Henry Davies returns to the staring XV at scrum half, while Head Boy Adam Sabri will also look to make a significant contribution from the off.

Fellow pupils and squad mainstays Euan Humphries and Nick Dundee take their places among the replacements.

Also in action for the U16 squad, who face a trip to Ospreys East, with pacey winger Sean Hughes looking to build on an impressive performance with another strong showing.

Another Rydal Penrhos prospect Jack Jones will be looking to make an impact from the bench if called upon.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “It promises to be another fantastic weekend of action for our young academy players, who get another chance to prove they can compete with some of the top programmes in the country as part of the RGC youth sides.”
