Two talented rugby players at Rydal Penrhos earned further regional representative honours at a high-profile competition recently.
Fin Hare and Sam Bixby, Year 12 and 11 pupils at the school, were pare of the RGC U16 squad that competed in a Regional Age Grade Championship at Stadiwm Zip World in Colwyn Bay.
The duo have been part of the young Gogs’ squad throughout the campaign and turned in some impressive performances during what was a very successful tournament overall from the improving group, who managed to secure impressive victories against Connacht and Scotland Greens to give them plenty of confidence as they move into U18 level.
Speaking to the RGC website, head coach Gav Hodgkinson said: “They have had a great season, being competitive throughout the Regional Age Grade Competition, and performing well this week against Connacht and Scotland Greens.”
Fin and Sam have come on significantly both with RGC and the school’s dedicated coaching staff this season, with both featuring prominently for Rydal Penrhos First XV and Rugby 7s sides, turning in some very encouraging displays.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, added: “Fin and Sam have worked incredibly hard on improving all areas of their game during the season, and this was especially evident during the Regional Age Grade Championship with a very talented RGC U16 side.
“Hopefully this is just the start for them in terms of what they can achieve in the future, and we will be working hard at Rydal Penrhos to ensure their goals are met.”
