A Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos has received a conditional offer on a coveted course relating to the medical industry.
Rafeez Mortuza, a Year 13 pupil at the school, has been rewarded for his excellent academic prowess with an offer to read Medical Pharmacology at the University of Cardiff, pending the necessary A-level results this summer.
The Upper Sixth Former is also awaiting news on his application to study Medicine at the same university, in addition to Liverpool University.
The 17-year-old has been a huge part of Rydal Penrhos life since enrolling as a Reception class pupil in 2004, thriving across a variety of different areas over a 15-year period.
Rafeez is currently studying Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology at A-level after an exceptional set of GCSE results in 2017, which included five A* grades in Biology, Geography, History, Mathematics and Religious Studies, in addition gaining A marks in Chemistry, German (Second Language) and Physics.
He added to his success with two scores of eight in English (First Language) and English Literature in accordance with the new grading system introduced this year, and Rafeez rounded off his super achievement with a Distinction in Additional Mathematics.
Rafeez is also a talented cricketer, helps younger members of the Rydal Penrhos community in his role as Peer Mentor and has raised funds for regional and national causes thanks to his efforts with the Sixth Form Charity Committee.
