A group of Preparatory School running stars performed well at a prestigious regional competition last week.
Cieran Milligan, Fflur Pierce, Freddie MacLaverty and Keira Luke formed the Rydal Penrhos team that competed at the Urdd Cross-Country Championships, which took place on Thursday, June 21.
The quartet were significantly tested thanks to the sweltering conditions, but still managed to give a very good account of themselves and secure top ten finishes from a highly competitive event.
In the Year 5 girls’ race, Fflur and Keira were in the leading pack throughout before crossing the line in fifth and ninth respectively, and they quickly headed off to Rydal Penrhos Edwards Boarding House to take part in The Big Sleepover which was organised in support of National Boarding Week following the race.
There was further cause for celebration in the form of Cieran and Freddie, who also produced a rousing effort to finish in fifth and tenth spot in the race standings.
This is the latest in a large number of sporting successes for the foursome, who continue to thrive in areas such as Sailing, Rugby, Athletics and Netball.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, said: “This was another very encouraging display from Cieran, Fflur, Freddie and Keira, and to perform so well in very testing conditions was very pleasing indeed.
“Their determination and desire to succeed really make them stand out across a wide range of different areas here at Rydal Penrhos, and hopefully they can continue their fine development during their final year of Prep School life from September.”
