Pupil Profiles: Gowri Pradeep

In the lead-up to our Open Morning events in April, we will be taking a look at the pupils that make Rydal Penrhos such a fantastic place to live and learn.

The latest Sixth Form pupil to feature is Gowri Pradeep:

  • Name: Gowri Pradeep
  • Year group: Year 13
  • Pupil status: Day
  • House: Wesley

When you talk about ‘Leading’ as one of Rydal Penrhos’ five key tenets, then Gowri is someone that has grasped that concept significantly during her time at the school.

Since arriving as a Year 2 Prep School pupil in 2008, the 16-year-old has progressed significantly and has become a well-rounded and respected member of the Rydal Penrhos community.

Her GCSE marks reflected the progress Gowri has made under the guidance of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated staff across all departments, and she achieved two scores of nine in English (First Language) and English Literature in accordance with the new grading system, which put her in the top two percent of all pupils nationwide.

There was further success courtesy of an incredible eight A* grades in Art and Design, Biology, Chemistry, French, Geography, Mathematics, Physics and Religious Studies, while also securing a Distinction in Additional Mathematics.

The first year of Sixth Form life has been a very busy one for Gowri, who has taken full advantage of the wealth of opportunities offered, which has seen her thrive even further under the expert guidance of Pete Lavery.

This includes gaining a Distinction in her Grade 4 Music Theory Assessment administered by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, securing a Silver certificate from the UK Mathematics Trust’s Senior Challenge and a top three finish at the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Top of the Bench competition.

Gowri is also a talented netballer and has received considerable support from coaching staff at the school, something which resulted in a Conwy County squad selection.

She is part of Rydal Penrhos’ Peer Mentor team that aids younger members of the school community, has contributed heavily to the recent work done by the Eco and Charity Committees and was part of the recent mission to Uganda during the summer.

Rydal Penrhos will be holding Senior and Prep Open Morning events on Friday, April 26 and Saturday 27 from 9.30am, and to book your place contact Admissions Officer Jenny Marsden on 01492 530155 or email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com.
