In the lead-up to our Open Morning events in April, we will be taking a look at the pupils that make Rydal Penrhos such a fantastic place to live and learn.
The latest pupil to feature is Abhishek Bathula:
- Name: Abhishek Bathula
- Year group: Year 12
- Pupil status: Day
- House: Wesley
When you look at the definition of a well-rounded pupil, you should look no further than Abhishek.
The 15-year-old has made the very most of the wealth of opportunities that have been presented to him since he joined the school as a Reception class pupil in 2006.
Thanks to the support of the dedicated staff at Rydal Penrhos, Abhishek managed to secure an impressive set of IGCSE results, achieving A*’s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
He also attained a GCSE A* in Mathematics a year early and will be looking for further success in the remainder of his GCSE examinations when results are published this summer.
The pupil is also part of the Welsh Table Tennis set-up, and was the only representative from North Wales to be selected for a prestigious coaching programme in Shanghai under the guidance of some of the best coaches anywhere in the world.
Abhishek has benefitted enormously from the school bringing in a specialised Table Tennis coach to work with the hopeful on a weekly basis, and working with Rydal Penrhos’ strength and conditioning team has also played a significant role in his success.
Another of the opportunities the Year 11 pupil has grasped is the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, and is now in the process of completing his Silver Award after already obtaining his Bronze.
Abhishek will also be part of the team that will travel to India later this year, which is the latest in a long line of unforgettable experiences arranged by the school.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Abhishek has thrived both academically and in his co-curricular activities here at Rydal Penrhos, something which both he and our staff deserve an enormous amount of credit for.
“His Table Tennis achievements are exceptional and he works incredibly hard on his studies which will hopefully bring with it further rewards this summer.”
Rydal Penrhos will be holding Senior and Prep Open Morning events on Friday, April 26 and Saturday 27 from 9.30am, and to book your place contact Admissions Officer Jenny Marsden on 01492 530155 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
