Prep School celebrate end of term with Christmas Carol Service

Preparatory School staff and pupils went into the festive break in style at a special event.

Rydal Penrhos’ annual Prep Christmas Carol Service took place on Wednesday, December 19, which saw a large congregation descend on St John’s Church for the final official event before the end of term.

The Reverend Nick Sissons started proceedings with a welcome, before Eryn Mart, Ava Culver Lexi-May Williams and Siham Clarke read a special prayer.

There were plenty of festive hymns sung throughout the event, with superb solo efforts from Xavier Poynton and Daisy Yates.

Rev’d Sissons then spoke about the meaning of Christmas using the Angels and Shepherds created at the Prep School’s annual festive Art workshops, in addition to the large cracker taking pride of place behind the pulpit.

Other readings came from Amelia Williams, Ellie Knight, Archie Green, Svaksh Singam, Laylo Driver, Jorvan Toor, Harry Nurse, Hudson Lamb and Sophie Winters-Jones, with Head Girl Grace Watkins and Head Boy Ellis Lister-Brookes read a special prayer with some guitar playing from Rev’d Sissons.

There was the annual nativity scene from the Pre-Prep group from their Christmas Musical, and they also performed their closing song from the recent performance.

Prep School Head Alison Hind closed out the Carol Service with a departing message of goodwill ahead of the festive break, which was a hugely successful start to the academic year across all age groups.
