A Preparatory School pupil was the special guest at Colwyn Bay Football Club’s weekend fixture against Ramsbottom United.
Zack Coverley, a Year 6 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, was the match day mascot after the family sponsored the contest and made a donation to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One West side in memory of his Grandmother Iona Coverley, who passed away earlier this year and was a long-time supporter of the Seagulls.
The pupil had the honour of leading out the team alongside skipper Tom McCready prior to the clash, which the Seagulls narrowly lost 1-0 to halt their recent positive run of results under Craig Hogg.
It has been a busy start to the academic year for Zack, who continues to display incredible talent both academically and during the wealth of co-curricular activities provided as part of the Rydal Penrhos Prep School curriculum.
He was recently appointed to a Prefect role by Prep School Head Alison Hind after impressing considerably during the assessment process, and his exploits on the football field have also been acknowledged by Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, who presented him with the captaincy.
This led to instant success as he played a starring role for the U11 squad in their Plate success at a tournament held at Terra Nova School, with his musical exploits also coming in for significant praise during what has been a truly exceptional time at Rydal Penrhos under the guidance and support of dedicated staff at the facility.
