Playscheme group explore stunning Great Orme site

A group of Preparatory School pupils got the chance to explore one of the region’s most famous landmarks as part of a special activity.

As part of Rydal Penrhos’ holiday Playscheme initiative, the intrepid pupils made the short trip to the Great Orme in Llandudno for a New Year activity which saw them participate in a series of different activities and take in the stunning view.

One of the tasks saw each pupil got the chance to investigate some of the more unusual fungi growing throughout the Great Orme, which saw the group track down things such as the ‘Black Coal’ fungi.

They also tested themselves significantly by tackling the steep zigzag path at the site, which proved tricky but the children managed to achieve this feat thanks to their typical determination and enthusiasm.

This is the latest in a series of fun-filled activities from the scheme, which took on a new direction during the summer as it looked to make the very most of Rydal Penrhos’ stunning location on the North Wales coast.

Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “Our staff do such a fantastic job of coming up so a very productive and enjoyable schedule for our Playscheme, which is a great way for each child under our care here at Rydal Penrhos to gain additional experiences and build relationships with others who might not be in their particular year group.

“We are fortunate to reside in such a beautiful part of the world, and we do our very best to maximise this to our advantage at every given opportunity.”
