Pastoral Forum for Parents arranged in support of Time to Talk Day

Rydal Penrhos will be hosting a special parent forum as part of their contribution to a nationwide awareness event.

The school will be holding a Pastoral Forum for Parents on Thursday, February 7 from 5.30pm at the newly refurbished Sixth Form Ferguson Centre.

The forum has been arranged in support of Time to Talk Day, and anyone with children in Years 5-13 are welcome to attend.

During the Forum there will be some tips on how to spot mental health problems in children, in addition to exploring different ways we can aid those who are experiencing difficulties.

Talking about mental health isn’t always a comfortable thing. It’s been so uncomfortable in fact, that we (as a society) have avoided talking about it altogether.

People suffering from mental illnesses often feel unable to go to their managers and ask for help. Now is the time to end mental health discrimination, by getting more and more people talking about mental health issues.

Discussions around the impacts it has on people and the support we can all give. We are all responsible for bringing about a positive change and ending the stigma.

Time to Change is a growing social movement working to change the way we all think and act about mental health problems.

Mental health problems affect one in four of us, yet people are still afraid to talk about it. Time to Talk Day encourages everyone to talk about mental health.
