On Tuesday, March 5, the U10 netball team travelled to Alderley Edge to play their team.
After a (very) long journey, we finally arrived, and after a quick warm-up and also a game of hot potato we got on our bibs and flipped a coin. They won and chose the centre pass first.
Their team was very good and the game was fast-paced, and even though our defence (and let’s not forget our marvellous attack) tried very hard we couldn’t stop them scoring quite a few goals.
We collected ourselves at half time and we came back stronger. Sadly, even though we came very close we didn’t manage to score a goal.
But, then we had another match! Refreshed and ready we came out with one mind-set – to win!
With brilliant attack from Fleur and Cammie helping to bring the ball closer to their goal (and not to mention the brilliant defence from Eloise, Lucy and Tilly), soon Ellie who was our amazing goal shooter scored two marvellous goals.
Sadly they scored one but that just motivated us more and just before the full-time whistle blew Lily shot the MOST WELL-TIMED GOAL EVER!
The match ended 3-1 to us.
On a serious note, though definitely just as amazing, Man (or Woman) of the Match for the first match was Fleur and Lily and for the second it was Cammie.
A MASSIVE well done to all the team, who all did amazingly well, as the teams were tough, and to Mrs Pyves who drove us all there and organised the match.
The U11 team travelled to Alderley Edge Girls’ School to play a match against them.
First we played against their A team who were very strong indeed (English Champions). To start off with it was a very close game thanks to the whole team’s effort but soon the gap started to widen and by half-time they were leading 5-1.
The second half we fought for the ball but despite some really great attacking and defending Alderley Edge came back strong with the match ending 11-4.
The second match was against their B team. Again they started well and scored three early on, but we were determined to come back from the first half and brought the score back to 6-3, and even with all our efforts the final score was 8-3.
I’d like to thank the whole team for trying their best and playing extremely well, and to Mrs Pyves for organising the match and taking us.
