Nick speaks with Year 9 about benefits of joining Army Cadets

An inspirational pupil at Rydal Penrhos held a special event to discuss his efforts with a prominent Army Cadet group in the area.

Nick Fiorita, a Lower Sixth Form pupil at the school, spoke with Year 9 about the benefits of joining the Army Cadet programme, or any similar organisation on Friday, May 11.

The 17-year-old began by explaining what the Cadet Forces are and the different groups you can join, before outlining the main factors that could aide your development during participation.

He then went on to speak about the different rankings and how you progress through them over time, while Nick also spoke about the various engagement you take part in as part of your representation of a respective Cadet group.

Core values of the Army Cadets were another prominent topic during the session, with adventurous training, learning first aid, detachment locations throughout the region and how you can transition the skills acquired in later life were also spoken about by the Sixth Former.

Nick stated that the Year 9’s were “thoroughly engaged” in the session and that it “went very well”.

Head of Sixth Form Peter Lavery, said: “This is another prime example of leadership from the older members of the Rydal Penrhos community, and Nick continues to be a driving force behind the great work currently being done at the school.

“He is a fantastic young man who is a great role model that can be enormously proud to the contribution he has made to life here at Rydal Penrhos, and hopefully this will inspire others to join one of the many Cadet groups that operate throughout North Wales.”
