Netball round-up: January 29

On Thursday the U14's played in the first round of the Conwy netball tournament, their opening game was against St David’s College, which they won 2-1.

The next game was against and experience John Bright team, the girls played much better, adapting to the pace of the game with some great defence by Ella James, despite this John Bright were able to take the win.

With only two teams qualifying to the Conwy Final, it was important that Rydal Penrhos won their final match against Creuddyn School, play went from end to end and with some excellent shooting we were matching Creuddyn goal for goal, enabling us to draw the game 5-5, leaving the team in joint second place, narrowly missing out on the next round on goal difference.

On Saturday four of the girls teams travelled to St Edwards, the seconds started off well and managed to sustain the pace and quality of our performance until half time.

We started off the third quarter just as strong as the previous two but unfortunately Ava suffered a nasty ankle injury and had to leave to go to A+E.

The game then continued with this quarter being out last. St Edwards managed to get some quality intercepts and levelled the score resulting in an 11-11 draw. Players of the match were Amanda and Sydney. Well done to all the girls involved

The U15's played well from the first centre pass with some good passing and intercepts by the whole team. We kept the pace of the game going for the throughout the match even when St Edwards were getting in goals we kept our heads up determined to even out the score.

We got our first goal in the second half and with encouragement from the sidelines we kept pushing. Well done to all of the team who played, the end result was 11-4 to St Edwards and the player of the match was Gloria Johnson.

The U13As scored from their first centre pass with a shot from Lily Davies and one from Ruby Merrick but St Edward's counter attacked and got a goal in. We kept our heads up determined, but sadly they got a few more goals in.

But not soon after Maddie scored 3 goals which brought us to 6-5 to them just before the whistle blew. Everyone played well even if we did get a few knocks. The player of match was Lily Davies

The girls took a while to settle into their game, as the game progressed we started to see some good interceptions from India Livingston and Elise Mazars but unfortunately in the second quarter Elise slipped and hurt her ankle. The team remained focused and carried on playing.

They against a very strong team but in the last quarter Jasmin Beckett Donald scored a goal the final score was 8-1 to St Edwards. Player of the match was Ella Northcott.

Well played to all the girls.
