Preparatory School netball stars at Rydal Penrhos are celebrating after winning a regional event.
The U11 side came away victorious from the Urdd Conwy Tournament, which was held at Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre on Friday, February 3.
They began their quest for the title with a 4-0 success over Ysgol Pencae, which featured a flawless shooting performance from Ruby Merrick and Eleanor Tunstall.
The young stars then played out a goalless draw with Ysgol San Sior, before beating Tal-y-Cafn 7-0 thanks to standout efforts from Eve Durrans, Ariana Milligan and Phoebe Pritchett.
This was followed by a 2-0 victory over Ysgol Bro Cernyw led by Caitriona Searl, Ella James and Martha Hind to ensure they reached the knockout stages in comfortable fashion.
A semi-final berth was confirmed after a triumph over Ysgol Glan Morfa and this was swiftly followed by a 3-1 win against Awl-y-Mynydd to reach the finals.
Pitted against San Sior for the second time in the tournament, the final was once again a tight affair, with a solitary basket late on from Ruby sealing the triumph.
The Rydal Penrhos side will now represent Conwy at the regional finals in Aberystwyth.
Prep School head Roger McDuff, said: “I was fortunate to be at three of the games and it was the best standard of under 11 netball I have ever seen.
“The girls all did an amazing job of representing the school, and I am sure they are going to continue their remarkable success with a strong performance at the regional championships in Aberystwyth.”
