Music: Weekly round-up with department Director Pete Williams

Director of Music Pete Williams returns with the latest rundown on all things department related in his weekly round-up, where it has been another busy week for pupils and staff alike.

It’s been another impressive week of performances from our pupils, which began with Tegid Goodman-Jones, Linda Wang and Amy Yue showcasing their skills in-front of the whole school at Monday’s assembly.

Both performed exceptionally well and they were invited to sing due to their fantastic efforts at the Rotary International’s Young Musician of the Year competition.

Our talented prep school pupils deserve enormous credit for their efforts at Wednesday’s Young Performers’ Concert, which saw a number of superb performances in what was a highly successful show.

A huge well done to all who took part and to Music teacher Richard Davies for his commitment in the lead-up to the concert.

The senior school choir were also in good voice this week at Wednesday’s pop gospel, where their version of the Bon Jovi hit ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ went down particularly well.

Finally, tonight (Thursday) sees the annual Boarding Inter-House Music competition, which will see classmates and friends battle in out for the coveted crown.

All houses have been rehearsing very hard for the show and judging by the work put in by all it promises to be a fantastic evening.
