A gifted musician and actor was rewarded for his efforts with a strong set of GCSE results.
Miles Poller was one of many pupils that recorded positive overall grades as results were published nationwide on Thursday, August 24.
The 16-year-old achieved six A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Drama, Mathematics, Music and Physics, while the pupil also achieved a B in Religious Studies.
There was further success for Miles in the form of an eight score in English Literature in accordance with the new grading system, and he rounded off his results with a Distinction in Additional Mathematics.
The pupil will now head to Rydal Penrhos’ thriving Sixth Form department next week where he will study Music, Drama, English Literature and Psychology, which has been introduced to the A-level curriculum this year with an incredibly positive response.
Since joining the school as a Year 7 pupil in 2012, Miles has established himself as a valued member of both the Music and Drama departments, contributing to the various concerts that are put on by Rydal Penrhos throughout the year, in addition to community events as part of the Jazz Band.
He has also come away with plaudits from the two recent Dramatic Society performances of To Kill a Mockingbird and Annie the Musical.
Director of Music Pete Williams, said: “Miles is a very hard-working pupil and to come away from his GCSE examinations with results such as these is a very good achievement.
“He has contributed significantly to a wide range of areas at Rydal Penrhos, and hopefully he will continue to flourish at our outstanding Sixth Form.”
