A talented swimmer at Rydal Penrhos produced a fantastic effort to come away with a haul of medals from a regional meet.
Matthew Johnson, a Year 6 pupil at the school, competed at a North Wales Swimming Gala earlier this month and managed to scoop three medals to continue his fantastic recent list of achievements.
The 11-year-old began another memorable competition with a podium finish in the 100-metre backstroke event, and he followed this up with a strong showing in the 100m individual medley to secure another medal as a result of his efforts.
He rounded off his achievements with a medal in the 50m backstroke, and also recorded three new personal best times throughout the meet.
This included shaving ten seconds off his 100m backstroke PB and seven seconds off his 100m freestyle.
Matthew has enjoyed a fantastic first year as a member of the Rydal Penrhos community, instantly bonding with the Year 6 group and
Head of Swimming Maciej Ruszkowski, said: “Matthew has shown enormous promise in the pool throughout the academic year, and this all bodes well as he looks to continue his development during his first year of Senior School life.
“He is very enthusiastic and has a great attitude towards his overall development, and it was great to hear about his recent medal success and some very impressive personal best times.”
